Ramkrishna Titagarh Rail Wheels Limited (RKTR), a consortium between Ramkrishna Forgings Limited and Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, is a pioneering initiative under the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision. RKTR aims to reduce reliance on imported forged wheels by establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Puduvoyal Village, Tamil Nadu. Spanning 72.5 acres with a built-up area of 6.5 lakh sq. ft., the facility will be Asia’s second-largest forged wheel plant with an annual capacity of 2,28,000 wheels. Equipped with German-sourced 10,000-ton presses, robotic handling, and heat treatment lines, the plant will integrate forging, machining, and testing with real-time quality monitoring. RKTR secured a 20-year contract from Indian Railways to supply 1.54 million wheels, emphasizing its national importance. Focused on innovation, sustainability, and community development, RKTR is designed for minimal environmental impact and will generate significant employment in the region. With operations expected to commence by April 2026, RKTR is set to transform India’s railway manufacturing landscape through technology, quality, and self-reliance.
