We conduct research on how to make robots sense and act in the real world. More concretely we work with processing sensor inputs in order to understand the environment, navigation (by means of mapping, localisation, planning & control), predictions of what might come next, and how to smoothly interact with the surroundings including humans. Some applications include robots and self-driving vehicles moving around, together with people in homes or factories and warehouses as well as mines, picking and placing of small objects as well as rocks and gravel, seeing through smoke and dust for emergency response, and monitoring air quality and finding gas leaks.
