RoboVM, was started in 2013 with the mission to turn 10 million Java developers into business and consumer mobile app developers for both iOS and Android devices. RoboVM's robust platform will allow the use of any Java-based language to create truly native iOS and Android apps, allowing code to be shared between the iOS and Android versions of an app, greatly reducing time and development costs. RoboVM is privately held and headquartered in Göteberg, Sweden. Sales of commercial licenses and support packages for RoboVM started in Q1 2015 and in Q3 2015 RoboVM was acquired by Xamarin Inc - the world leader in cross-platform mobile app development.
