Rootfull is a sustainable textile company developing a highly novel textile that is produced by guiding plant root to “weave” garments and products.
Nature has been weaving textile beneath our feet for more than 500 million years. And now, we have the power to harness those fibres and create something truly extraordinary. The root weaves itself into fabric that is biodegradable, pollution-free, water-efficient and estimated carbon neutral. The entire process incorporates organic and locally sourced materials. Water is recycled from runoff, and any excess shoot or seed is repurposed as animal fodder, leaving no waste behind. At the core of the innovation is a simple, disruptive idea that root can be grown into functional textiles to replace harmful synthetic materials derived from petrol chemicals.
