Roper Gulf Regional Council is one of 18 Local Governments in the Northern Territory and encompasses 12 communities and 20 outstations spread out over an area of approximately 201,000 square kilometres.
The Council’s purpose is to act as a strong advocate for its constituency of more than 7000 people, 80 per cent of whom identify as Indigenous, paving the way towards sustainable social, cultural, economic and environmental development. To achieve this, the Council employs approximately 380 staff, who live and work across the Local Government Area, and are co-ordinated from an operational hub in Katherine.
One of the key drivers of the Council is to improve the quality of life in, and liveability of, the Roper Gulf region, with the vision of making it sustainable, vibrant and viable for those who call it home.
