Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS)

Established in 1959, the Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS) aims to advance the art and science of public relations and to strengthen communication, understanding and cooperation among the diverse individuals, groups and institutions of the Society. Professionals from all areas of public relations throughout Raleigh, North Carolina and the surrounding areas are active members of RPRS, including corporations, nonprofit organizations, agencies, educational institutions, government offices and private communication and design firms. RPRS sponsors monthly meetings that provide an excellent opportunity to learn, network and share ideas with other public relations practitioners. The meetings focus on the latest issues affecting the PR industry and often include guest speakers. Meetings are held during lunch on the fourth Tuesday of each month; guests are welcome and encouraged to attend. In addition to the monthly lunch meetings RPRS hosts several after-work networking events throughout the year, offering members and guests a chance to converse in a business casual setting. RPRS also holds an annual awards competition, the Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication, as well as a banquet to honor award recipients. These and other programs offer a variety of professional development opportunities for those in the public relations and related communications fields.
