About RSBE2
The RSBE² team has a documented expertise in estuarine and coastal ecosystems studies. Our team is internationally recognized for its research in Earth Observation for coastal biodiversity, benthic microalgae primary production, seagrass dynamics, phytoplankton blooms, and shellfish aquaculture. We observe and study coastal zones from the microscale (microalgae observed at subcellular scale) to the macroscale (remote sensing of essential biodiversity variables at ecosystem scale). We develop innovative methods to couple hyperspectral imagery and measurement of carbon flux at the air-sediment interface, or study shellfish life cycle using EO and physiological modelling. We process and analyse long-term satellite time-series to assess changes in the structure and phenology of coastal habitats. We combine remote sensing with ecophysiology (such as measurements of modulated fluorescence and energy balances), as well as with ecotoxicology to focus on the impacts of emerging pollutants, such as rare earth elements and microplastics, on organisms and ecosystems.
