Henry Collin has worked as an environmental management and sustainability consultant for nearly 20 years. He has undertaken environmental appraisal, policy and management projects for a range of sectors including transport, energy, urban regeneration, waste management, central and local government, planning, structural funds, rural development and tourism. He has worked for a range of governmental, public and private sector organisations in the UK, Central Europe and South East Asia. Henry has extensive experience in strategic and project level environmental assessment, sustainability appraisal, policy analysis, institutional strengthening, training and research. He previously held senior consultancy positions with ERM (1993 to 2004) and WSP Environment & Energy (2004 to 2007). Since 2007 Henry has advised Transport Scotland, the Scottish Government’s agency for transport, on environmental assessment procedures, regulatory compliance, sustainability and climate change issues. He established and led the agency’s Sustainability Review and the development of its Carbon Management System and continues to provide advice on a regular basis. He has contributed to a number of cross governmental initiatives and steering groups including for sustainable places policy, climate change and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) guidance. In 2010 Henry established his own practice and works as a freelance consultant in the areas of environmental assessment, sustainability, policy, strategy and climate change. He regularly contributes to conferences and articles on sustainability issues and is a skilled presenter and facilitator.
