Our founder was born in the Rocky Mountains of western Colorado. He grew up with an appreciation for rugs inspired by the Native-American tradition. He met his wife online and three years later they got married and they traveled to India to meet her family. While in Jaipur, James enjoyed a cycling food tour throughout the city's early morning, feeding elephants in the afternoon and a tour of the marvelous Pink City, the City Palace, and the Amber Fort, the palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas the decedents of the Mughal Empire.
In Jaipur he discovered the beautiful art of oriental rug weaving, which reminded him of the southwestern rugs of his childhood. It ignited a passion to introduce more Americans to the unparalleled artistry of rugs made by hand. James believed that just as his love for his wife was able to be nurtured and grow online, he believed that the allure of 100% silk and wool rugs could motivate the sophisticated buyer who has an eye for exquisite design by skilled rug makers, who's art can only be described as a delicacy for the eyes, and as soft as buttery mango when touched by the hand, this brilliance could never by replicated by a machine-made rug.
