A team of individuals who share a concern for the environment, the earth, and everything invested in its natural wealth, have formed a social business named Rumah Ilham, in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (SRY). We aim to promote environmental sustainability through organic agriculture and renewable technologies, which improve the health of the earth and produce chemical-free food.
Ilham means ‘divine inspiration’ and stands for Inovasi untuk Lingkungan yang Hijau Aman dan Makmur (Innovation for a Green, Safe and Prosperous Environment). Rumah, however, means ‘house’, and indicates both the intention to make renewable technology a domestic possibility and also the need for the health of the community. To this latter end, one of our ambitions is to mobilise the profitablility of green small-businesses to aid single parent women, women who are burdened to be family heads and must earn money for their families, and the education of disadvantaged children.
