Runde Environmental Centre

Runde Environmental Centre is an international research station, an exhibition space, and a meeting place for courses, seminars and conferences. The centre is located in a protected and an ecologically fragile area, and therefore has been built so that it has minimal impact on the surroundings. The idea behind the centre is to provide an infrastructure for monitoring, to conduct research on the environment and to promote sustainable technology for fisheries and energy production. One focus area is to work with the local industry to develop environment friendly technology. The centre is also used by Norwegian and foreign researchers. It is a goal to raise awareness about the nearby ocean areas, which are some of the most important spawning areas within Norwegian waters. The centre has offices, a laboratory and eight apartments for rent. The main building has an auditorium and a restaurant. The exhibition area is located upstairs in the main building.
