Project Rupaantar

India faces significant environmental challenges, ranking third globally with 5.5 million tonnes of single-use plastic (SUP) waste and ninety-fourth with a per capita SUP waste of 4 kg per year. Plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. Conventional plastics take centuries to decompose, clogging our oceans and landfills. Meanwhile, fruit peels—a valuable resource—often end up in these same landfills, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Project Rupaantar presents an innovative solution: bioplastics made from fruit peels. These bioplastics are biodegradable and environmentally friendly, breaking down much faster than conventional plastics.
