Sustainability & Development (S&D) Mission: To drive sustainability in targeted markets, through consumer engagement to transform pet care supply-chains making ESG an industry-wide priority, and align global-local policy.
S&D's 3-pronged approach:
1. Zero-carbon footprint profit model, providing pet care services to New York City residents
2. Sustainability consulting - Provided clients with insights on:
- Benefits to pet wellness by being sustainably-minded consumers
- Tangible solutions: Increased product awareness (i.e. responsible manufacturing, sustainably sourced materials, ingredients, packaging, cruelty-free standards), & support of local businesses/non-profits.
3. Align global environmental policy with local laws. S&D helped establish the New York State Ivory Ban (§A10143) by expanding awareness of global conservation efforts with local animal welfare actors through the creation of campaigns, events, and global partnerships.

I founded S&D social enterprise after having a career in private sector business development. I worked in the apparel industry in New York, and successfully transitioned supply-chains from domestic to import, maximizing value and increasing profit. This led me to examine more closely the unaccounted for social and environmental costs in production, and our roles as businesses and consumers. Also during this time, I regularly volunteered with animal welfare organizations like the New York ASPCA and the Mayor's Alliance for Animals. It became clear to me there was a disconnect in what we valued in society, and how consumer behavior unintentionally undermined these values. With these issues pressing on my mind, in the face of the climate crisis, I not only wanted to 'do no harm' in my professional life, I wanted to contribute positively to the systemic transformation towards humane, low-waste, and low-emissions, climate-resilient societies. This led me to develop S&D.
