SABYA WITS Student Chapter

South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) is a youth led non-profit organization located in South Africa, Pretoria. The SABYA WITS Student Chapter serves as a focal point between the broader organisation and its members at WITS university. SABYA aims to create a platform for students to actively engage with the BRICS+ community and its objectives. The WITS Chapter creates such a platform by bringing together like-minded youth within the university through common affiliation to the Association. Furthermore, the chapter aims to engage young people in discussions, activities, and initiatives related to the BRICS+ group and global affairs. Through our activities, we promote awareness, understanding, and collaboration among South African youth interested in the BRICS+ member nations. OUR MISSION To provide youth with the opportunity to meaningfully participate in the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063 from an African perspective and create a network of young diplomats to tackle challenges in making the world a better place. OUR VISION To advance and be the leading voice of youth and respond to their developmental needs locally, regionally and globally. OBJECTIVES To create a platform for young people to participate in BRICS, African Union, Y20 and the United Nations to influence policy and engage with governments on the youth-related issue. To facilitate and host youth conferences and create awareness around multilateral and international youth challenges and opportunities. To build a cohort of policymakers and influencers who are key players in creating a world free of internalized, interpersonal, and institutional oppression in strategic platforms. To advocate for the Inclusion of young people within local, regional and international decision making bodies.
