في عام 2012م، ثمة نقاشات موسعة كانت تجري بين أعضاء مجلس إدارة شركة وادي جدة (الذراع الاستثماري لجامعة الملك عبدالعزيز)، حول الدور المهم على الشركة الذي يفرضه الواقع والاحتياج والمتمثل في المساهمة الفاعلة في تطوير التنمية الشاملة لنظام التعليم العام في المملكة إضافة إلى تأهيل الكوادر الوطنية بمختلف اطيافها في القطاعين الخاص والحكومي وكذلك الطلاب والخريجين وملاءمتهم لمتطلبات سوق العمل المستجدة ، من هنا قرر المجلس تأسيس شركة المنظومة السعودية لتطوير التعليم والتدريب (صافية) كأحد شركات وادي جدة لهذا الغرض.
