Have you ever thought about the condition of stray, ill, abandoned, and injured dogs?🐕 They are helpless and cannot speak for themselves. The situation is indeed pathetic.🙁 In 2015, the population of such dogs increased in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Witnessing their suffering was heartbreaking, and though we initially felt helpless due to limited funds, we decided to take action. We started learning about: Rescuing dogs Raising funds Hiring and training staff Initially, both private and government veterinary clinics treated the rescued dogs. We housed them in our limited facilities. By 2017, the Safe Home Foundation had established a small shelter capable of rescuing about 50 dogs per month, receiving 5-8 calls daily. In 2020, thanks to both local and international donors, we built a larger shelter. By 2024, our operations had expanded significantly, with daily calls increasing to 50, and 7-8 dogs admitted to the shelter each day. However, our old shelter's facilities and space are now very limited. We are planning to purchase new land and build a facility with enhanced capabilities for the dogs under our care.
