About SafeSeed Project

The main idea of the SafeSeed project is to explore, identify and define specific seed traits that are responsible for tolerance of seeds of major field crops - maize, sunflower, legumes and cereals to most devastating stored product (seed) pests. In addition, the project will pave new paths for reducing postharvest losses by developing biorational solutions such as pest-tolerant ideotype, plant-based insecticide and seed protectant.
