Sakeena

Sakeena is a youth-centered, non-profit and non-partisan organization registered formally in Jordan. We work to ensure that every orphan leaving care homes is an equal member of society who has the access to continued care, community, and advocacy for human and civil rights. We live in a context where identity, tribal, family, and religious affiliations determine not only how society treats us, but also where we can work, receive education, and live. This reality means that orphans are at risk of living as invisible, easily-exploited individuals among us, who are prone to the same cycle the previous generations fell into and are particularly at risk for civil rights violations, homelessness, abuse, and ostracization. We believe that with the right partnerships, integral programming, and advocacy, the present and future of hundreds and thousands of orphans can change. We have had numerous success stories and we continue to enable the potential, talents, and voices of our youth. We offer a set of integrated, documented, and human rights-based services, including: - Basic Aid: support to secure accommodation, food, and clothing. - Psychosocial support: case management, one-to-one sessions, community gatherings. - Skill development: assessments, training programs, employment support. - Education: formal and informal education opportunities. - Emergency: rapid response to cases requiring legal aid, medical attention, and other immediate needs. - Sustainability: realocating existing resources in society through accommodation rehabilitation, and organizing dignified donations. Sakeena’s young people and community is made of some of the most inspiring and resilient individuals who give each other a unique form of solidarity and togetherness against adversities.
