Salon Alper Derinbogaz

Salon, award winning architecture studio, produce designs and studies in the fields of architecture, art, interior design and urbanism. Salon is led by Alper Derinbogaz as a design practice with emphasize on projects of creative, social and urban values. The collaborative character of the design and research methods result in developing contemporary solutions for architectural, interior and urban conditions. We believe that this moment is the time to study specific architectures related to the technology and the geography beyond the conventional perspectives of locality and modernism. Named as a reference to the French term, Salon, meaning a gathering space for emerging ideas or criticism, Salon is a dynamic and innovative practice that is based on a collaborative sprit. We care about setting contemporary tectonics on the basis of it. With projects worldwide, the firm’s work ranges in scale from residential, institutional, and civic buildings to large urban planning projects. Alper Derinboğaz, recognized as an emerging and influential architect, founded the initial form of Salon in 2009 as an architecture practice. Derinbogaz graduated from ITU (2005). He won the UCLA Graduate Award for his master’s studies that he completed in UCLA. He won prizes in the design competitions and became a jury member at the international competitions. He realized the public space projects that incorporate new technologies at large scales. He received the Arkitera Young Architect Award in 2011 after the realization of Augmented Structures, Gate and Panorama Projects. He has received awards and honors, including the A+ Architizer Award 2015, and the Plan Award for Innovative Architecture for his projects. Derinbogaz represented Turkey in the 14th Venice Architecture Biennale in its debut year of the Pavilion of Turkey in 2014. Currently he heads the work of Salon and runs the Vertical Living Architecture studio at the Istanbul Technical University as an adjunct professor.
