SAMER+ COLLECTIVE

A collaborative partnership emerged following the release of the Te Aorerekura - National Strategy and Action Plan to eliminate family violence and sexual violence. It has become the intention of locally based key ethnic providers to co-design and pilot a project over 3 years with the aim of understanding and addressing the needs of the South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Refugees population (SAMER+) in Counties Manukau, Auckland, New Zealand region. SAMER+ is a cross-cultural, faith-based initiative. A strong emphasis is placed on primary prevention and healing in ethnic communities. This initiative recognises the pivotal role of tangāta whenua, community leadership, and service providers in facilitating enduring intergenerational transformation.
