SAMPE-Los Angeles Chapter

SAMPE-Los Angeles Chapter (SAMPE-LA) serves as a forum to exchange material and process technologies for the aerospace, composites, and other industries. SAMPE-LA does this by sponsoring tours of Space-X, Boeing, Northrop, and other companies to demonstrate current state-of-art design and manufacturing methods to professionals and students. SAMPE-LA also sets up presentations from universities such as the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) to show advanced research methods. In addition, SAMPE-LA nurtures pre-college students by providing career guidance, specific technical knowledge, and scholarships. Plus, SAMPE-LA has become a catalyst for organizations working together. For example, SAMPE-LA facilitated Northrop donating composite materials to the California State University at Long Beach (CSULB) Rocket Club. And when researchers at USC wanted to introduce new robotic methods to industry, USC came to SAMPE-LA to produce announcements and presentation meetings. SAMPE-LA interacts with other SAMPE Chapters such as SAMPE-Orange County, SAMPE-High Desert and SAMPE-Mexico to provide presentations and trade shows. Going further, SAMPE-LA is producing virtual presentations and tours that can be viewed around the world. This is augmented with a monthly Newsletter and Website. SAMPE-LA is a volunteer organization made up of professions, students, activists and enthusiasts. SAMPE-LA combines the strengths of ongoing businesses with the research laboratories of prominent Universities to create new knowledge. This new knowledge is used to advance many activities ranging from sports to going to the moon and on to Mars.
