SANA Gorilla Rafting was founded by Sadat Kawawa, Ugandan freestyle kayak champion, and Nathalie van den Brekel, his wife and Dutch Medical Doctor.
They traveled through the country a lot, in search of outdoor fun and rivers. They found River Birira in Rukungiri in 2023 and founded SANA Gorilla Rafting shortly after that.
Rafting with SANA Gorilla Rafting is a unique experience. The river goes through thick jungle and one is constantly surrounded by stunning birds and wildlife in between the lush greenery. It is a level IV river, with almost continuous white water, making for good fun and not a single dull moment.
SANA Gorilla Rafting offers half day trips, full day trips and overnight trips for the true adventures, with camping on the river banks and ending all the way in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Rafting with SANA Gorilla Rafting is safe. Our team are certified and have international experience as raft guides and safety kayakers. All equipment needed is included, you will get a safety briefing and all photos and snacks are also included in the price. We will even take you for a stop on the river for some interaction with the locals and a small surprise.
