SAND's Director, Sandy Munro, a Chartered Naval Architect and maritime industry quality specialist, founded our New Zealand based company in 2011 to establish a platform for the provision of maritime technical support and consultancy services. With specialist knowledge in maritime regulatory systematics, standards and tools, Sandy has proven skills and knowledge to assist with the preparation for, or compliance to, Flag State requirements and the regulatory assurance and certification involved. Diversifying into yacht design, from 2013 onwards, SAND Ltd is also passionate about the design and construction of modern classic-style timber epoxy yachts. The first of these designs, the SAND10, being proven, built and launched in 2024 in the form of the 33' sailing yacht LORNA, often sailing and racing in the Wellington harbour.
