About Sansaro Art Box
The sansaro art box is an art and culture-promoting non-profit exhibition format of SUSHIYA GmbH, operator of the Japanese restaurant sansaro in the Amalienpassage in Munich. Directly adjacent to the restaurant, the art box functions as a showcase in the public space that can be seen from all sides - an interface between gastronomy, everyday urban life and contemporary art. The art box offers artists an extraordinary platform to create new visibility, push boundaries and try out innovative forms of presentation. The exhibition changes every two months, creating new impulses, surprising dialogs and a dynamic field of tension between art, architecture and the viewer. The project is open to all forms of artistic expression - from painting and sculpture to installation, mixed media and performance. Particularly in demand are bold, conceptually thought-out works that deal with the special architecture of the box. This is where artistic freedom meets spatial challenge. The showcase itself is not a neutral space, but an active player. Its complex form, complete visibility and placement in public space require the artists to consciously engage with its presentation, materiality and effect. The installations are intended to play with the geometry of the box, react to its transparency and address the relationship between inside and outside. The aim is not just to show works, but to create spaces - places of irritation, reflection, curiosity or contemplation. The sansaro art box sees itself as a laboratory for contemporary positions that is low-threshold, accessible and experimental at the same time. It invites a dialog - between art and everyday life, viewer and work, inside and outside.
