Sari for Change is a conscious fashion brand dedicated to repurposing traditional Indian saris and other heritage textiles into unique, one-of-a-kind garments, rescuing them from landfill waste. With 84% of clothing ending up in landfills, we recognize the sari and other heritage textiles as a unique fabric resource. Our creations reflect cultural roots through the collective lens of Kenyan, South African, Indian, Arab, and Malaysian traditions, offering a unique experience by upcycling traditional cloth into garments that celebrate evolving identity and interconnectedness.
Empowering Women and Fostering Inclusivity
At Sari for Change, we are committed to women’s empowerment. Our foundation aims to economically and socially uplift women by providing access to education and skills training, creating opportunities for them to participate in the economy. Our hubs and co-ops support women in townships, helping to dismantle systemic barriers and foster inclusivity. To date, we have saved 15,000 saris from landfill waste, created 8,000 unique garments, and upskilled 120 women.
