Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) is an emergency medical charity funded by voluntary donations. SARS provides specialist clinicians who have additional skills and carry drugs and equipment not normally found on frontline ambulances. This enables SARS to undertake advanced life-saving interventions at the scene, which would not normally be possible outside the hospital environment. SARS clinicians offer their services without charge and SARS currently responds to around 450-500 callouts a year.
SARS does not receive statutory government funding and therefore relies upon corporate partnerships, grants and public fundraising to provide this vital service.
