Sasakura Middle East Company previously named as Arabian Company and Sasakura for Water & Power (APS) (commonly abbreviated as Sasakura Middle East Company or SMEC) was founded in the year 2002. This was a joint venture between ACWA Holding and Sasakura Engineering Co., Ltd and Itochu Corporation of Japan, offering engineering and rehabilitation services for extending the life of the existing thermal seawater desalination plants, enhancing their performance and cutting down operational costs. Sasakura Middle East Company (SMEC), specializing in the delivery of desalination plants utilizing the Multi Effect Desalination (MED). The company also provides engineering and other consultancy services to the customers on rehabilitating or extending the life of existing plants. Sasakura Middle East Company (SMEC) has enjoyed considerable success over the years and counts among its projects the rehabilitation of SWCC’s Jeddah Phase 4 MSF plant, Shoaiba Phase II and SEC Desalination plant at Rabigh city, which were completed ahead of time schedule. Supplying and installing R.O membranes at SWCC’s plant in Jubail. Design, Engineering, Fabrication & Construction of six MED desalination plants on turn-key basis at different locations along the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. SMEC has the capability and resources to be your single point of contact to facilitate the delivery of green-field Desalination Plants on EPC basis, rehabilitation of existing Desalination Plants, assessment & feasible study of Desalination Plants and Specialist Technical Services.
