Scalesexpress was started in Bolton in 1999 by Gail Hounslea, who is now the Managing Director. We are independent specialists in all things to do with weighing and we work alongside all the UK and European manufacturers. We supply scales for all types of applications: - industrial, medical and commercial.
In 2011 when Edinburgh Zoo wanted to design the enclosure for the two Giant Pandas coming from China they approached Scalesexpress to help design and supply scales that were capable of weighing the pandas. Our scales experts worked with Graham Catlow, the Animal Project Design Officer from Edinburgh Zoo, and one of our suppliers to design a solution that included a platform that could be mounted in the interior of the panda' enclosures, with an indicator on the keeper’s side. The scale was installed successfully in the enclosure in June in time for the pandas arriving in December 2011.
Scalesexpress is the preferred supplier of many of the major UK Scales Manufacturers and work closely with Seca, Tanita, Salter Brecknell, Marsdens and H Fereday.
