SCAMT Institute ("Solution Chemistry of Advanced Materials and Technologies")

SCAMT Institute is the relatively new, fast growing research and educational center at ITMO University. Its creation was initiated by Vladimir and Alexander Vinogradov along with the scientific backing of Prof. David Avnir from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Opened in 2014 with a small group of young scientists who came back from abroad, in 6 years the center has grown from 6 to 250 employees. A unique working ecosystem has been created aimed at world-class results both in research and industrial applications. Currently, SCAMT Institute includes 14 independent research groups involved in interdisciplinary projects in various fields of chemistry and biology (and there is no such format of close cooperation of chemistry and biology in Russia). The research includes a full cycle: from bioinformatics and basic research to applied research and start-ups. In addition to scientific research, we teach future scientists in the frame of our English-language graduate programs "Molecular biology and biotechnology", "Applied genomics" and "Chemistry of applied materials" and cooperate with the industrial sector (both by commercializing our projects and developing technologies for companies). We are always open to new directions, and if you also share our views that mobility, interdisciplinarity, and a positive atmosphere are vital for global science, we will be happy to discuss with you collaboration with our Institute.
