Sustainable Construction & Building Materials Laboratory (SCBM Lab-NITK)

The Sustainable Construction and Building Materials (SCBM) Laboratory, led by Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Das in the Department of Civil Engineering, was established in 2018 with a commitment to sustainable construction. The lab focuses on developing eco-friendly building materials to address the environmental challenges associated with traditional materials like cement and steel, known for their high carbon footprint. Equipped with advanced technology, the SCBM Lab conducts innovative research using techniques such as 3D concrete printing, CO2 sequestration, and various forms of spectroscopic and analytical methods. Through its work, the lab aims to drive sustainable practices in the construction industry for a greener future.
