Smart Construction Composite Materials Limited (SCCM) is a young entrepreneurship born in 2023. It was founded on campus by young academics from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with the aim of becoming a leading provider of innovative solutions for sustainable infrastructure.
SCCM specializes in the development of durable materials, offering consultancy services and providing other related products/services for the service life enhancement of infrastructure. SCCM’s materials are based on the advanced composite materials technology, including organic composites, e.g., fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, and inorganic composites, e.g., cementitious materials-based composites. These materials can enhance the performance, durability, and sustainability of infrastructure. SCCM’s consulting services cover various aspects of sustainable infrastructure, e.g., material selection, structural rehabilitation, life cycle assessment and carbon footprint reduction. SCCM also offers design optimization and structural health monitoring services, which can help clients achieve optimal structural safety and serviceability, as well as reduced maintenance costs.
