SCD Enrichment Program

SCD Enrichment Program is a nonprofit that recruits and supports students of color in advanced coursework. Partnering with school districts, colleges and universities , community elders and organizations, teachers, families and students, SCDEP is shifting Gifted and Talented, honors, Concurrent Enrollment, Advance Placement and International Baccalaureate classrooms and programs to reflect the diversity of our nation. Identifying specific gifted criteria used to identify gifted students that is culturally responsive is vital in increasing the percentages of BIPOC students in advanced coursework. There is a disproportionately low percentage of students of color in gifted and advanced programs in the Southwest Region and nationally. SCDEP uses culturally inclusive strategies with concrete solutions to increase the number of students of color in Gifted & Talented and Advanced Coursework.
