Scenario Pubblico/Compagnia Zappalà Danza is one of the four National Dance Production Centres recognised by the Italian Ministry of Culture.
This recognition arrived in 2015, crowning the long history of the Compagnia Zappalà Danza and his founder Roberto Zappalà, over 25 years of activity rich of international success and not last the realisation of an avant-garde space Scenario Pubblico, which quickly changed the dance perception in the City of Catania and which has become in a few years a point of reference for dance in the South of Italy.
Roberto Zappalà, has been running and narrating about a lively Southern part of Italy together with his Company «with tenacity, with a lucid vision aimed to improve his poetics, to build a humanist and philosophical home to his dance ideas» (delteatro.it). Dance for Zappalà is «one of the most philosophical creative expressions: it acts on emotional states and then as like with philosophy it leaves open spaces to audience's interpretation». The principles of his poetics consider the body as pious, ethical and instinctive.
