The team is led by our Principal Investigator, Dr Martin K. Schwarz. The lab is part of Institute for Experimental Epileptology and Cognition Research, and its affliated with University of Bonn. Our dedication to pushing the boundaries of neuroscience continues to drive us forward.
Our group focuses on the functional characterization of neural circuits that orchestrate state-dependent behaviors, with a special emphasis on social interactions. We are pioneering automated behavioral detection (now-casting) of disease-indicative phenotypes, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to monitor various modalities of behavior, including vocalization and gait analysis.
To achieve our research goals, we employ advanced techniques such as ultrasonic recordings, functional ultrasound imaging, light sheet fluorescence microscopy, and fiber photometry imaging. These tools allow us to study ethologically relevant information in freely moving mice, providing deeper insights into their behavior and neural mechanisms.
