About Scottish Students' Debating Council
The Scottish Students' Debating Council, commonly known by its acronym SSDC, is an intervarsity body that brings together the various debating institutions of Scotland and their members. It is responsible for the organisation of multiple competitions each year, supporting its members in the development of their debating skills and representing the interests of the Scottish debating circuit in the international debating community. It currently comprises of nine member institutions: Aberdeen Debater; Dundee University Debating Society; Edinburgh University Debates Union; Glasgow University Union Debating; Strathclyde Debates Society, University of Stirling Debates Society; St Andrews Union Debating Society. For historical and geographical proximity reasons Durham University Debating Society and Newcastle Debating Society are all members.
