SCREENWORKS ASIA, founded in 2020, is CATCHPLAY's production subsidiary, a joint venture with Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to fuel the production of premium movies, series, mini-series and factual entertainment from Taiwan targeting international audiences. CATCHPLAY is known as the leading distributor of international movies in Taiwan. Over the years, CATCHPLAY has continued to distribute more than 30 films theatrically every year, an average of one movie every other week, and more than 100 titles for release on home videos, TV and digital platforms. In 2014, in addition to movie distribution, CATCHPLAY embarked on earnest co-production and investment projects, venturing into content creation. In the same year, CATCHPLAY invested in the locally produced film, Paradise in Service and co-produced 20 Once Again with CJ Entertainment for the Chinese market. In early 2015, CATCHPLAY closed a partnership deal to invest in New Regency’s three enthralling titles, namely The Revenant, Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell, marking the first investment of a Taiwanese company in major Hollywood productions. In March 2016, the CATCHPLAY+ service platform made its pilot launch in Taiwan in partnerships with major telecommunication operators and device manufacturers. In the same year, CATCHPLAY+ platform is also launched in Singapore and Indonesia. It has over 7 million users to date. SCREENWORKS ASIA focus on premium content, including movies, high-quality series and shows for both local and international audiences. Projects in development includes films, series and factual entertainment shows, across different genres such as romantic comedy, suspense crime thriller, sci-fi disaster and etc. Previously announced projects, family comedy, The Making of An Ordinary Woman II, is completed and will premiere on August 8th, 2021 and young adult martial arts adventure Chi is still in development.
