About Don Dixon A multidisciplinary artist blending fine art, animation, and storytelling to capture energy, emotion, and truth. With over 20 years of experience in design and animation, Don infuses childhood wonder, cultural commentary, and imagination into gallery paintings, children’s books, animation, and more. His works include major animated films like The Book of Life and Scoob!, as well as authoring children’s books such as Dandelion. Don believes in art’s power to spark conversations, inspire change, promote healing, and encourage creative freedom. Biography Highlights Childhood influence: Don’s father was a pioneering Black engineer in robotics and toy design—building seven-foot robots and inspiring Don’s inventive spirit from a young age. Education: Don earned a BFA in Animation & Digital Media from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Children’s Books: Dandelion – A heartfelt story about grief Darwin the Dreamer – A blind boy opens his imagination to new worlds Puppy Dreams Pain and Process – A personal art book Solo Exhibition: In September 2021, Don hosted his solo show “Pain & Process” at Event 1013 in historic Downtown Plano, Texas. The collection explored America’s racial and emotional landscape with raw, expressive power.
