Scrutiny Hub

There is a critical lack of capacity for in-depth corporate scrutiny. Too often regulators have assumed that if information is disclosed it will be meaningfully analysed, but that’s rarely true. This leads to duplicated shallow analysis that cannot handle the complex relationship between sustainability and profit – and that’s fuelling the pushback against sustainability. Instead, corporate accountability needs an ecosystem of organisations with the expertise, resources, and independence to produce in-depth analysis that can build toward consensus between companies, investors and governments on the solutions to market failures. This perspective is missing from current debates on corporate accountability and sustainability. Scrutiny Hub is a think tank working to fill this gap by writing research on how to increase the capacity for in-depth analysis across the corporate scrutiny ecosystem and then testing tools to address problems identified.
