About Southern Connecticut State University Occupational Therapy Graduate Program
Southern Connecticut State University's Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program is the first and only public graduate OT program in Connecticut! Our innovative two-year, 60-credit program is designed to prepare you for a rewarding career as a registered occupational therapist (OTR). With our inaugural class starting in the summer of 2025, we offer a comprehensive curriculum that integrates evidence-based education and community service learning. Program Highlights: •Duration: Two years, including two summers •Cohort Size: 40 students per year •Curriculum: Focused on occupation, with active learning and a flipped classroom approach •Unique Features: Emphasis on community service, alternative grading, and a holistic admissions process •Schedule: Late day classes for flexibility Our mission is to foster diversity in the profession and support student belonging. You'll learn from expert faculty and engage in special collaborative and interprofessional educational experiences. Our motto will be OT Unbounded, as we seek to create occupational therapists who will identify needs, and creatively generate collaborative and effective solutions that are not limited by the “traditional” occupational therapy practice boundaries within our U.S healthcare system. Our goal is to unleash a diverse occupational therapy force for change, with students who understand and appreciate the value of human differences, who understand that there may be multiple correct solutions and multiple opinions, who will seek out the knowledge of others within their learning community when needed, and who will actively work for change where change is needed. Accreditation Status: Our program has applied for accreditation and holds Candidacy Status from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). Graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam upon accreditation.
