Sculpture Saint John provides affordable, world-class, public art for public spaces, to enable New Brunswick artisans and art students to gain experience with an international event, and to increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the art of stone sculpting.
The 2014 Project
In August 2014, Saint John will welcome eight world-class sculptors to the uptown waterfront worksite. Chosen by a local jury from over 165 international applications, the artists will have six weeks and up to 10 tons each of locally quarried granite. They will be assisted on site by six New Brunswick interns. The artists and interns will work and live together, giving the novices a total immersion experience into the world of international sculpting.
