About The Global SDG Synthesis Coalition

The Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched the Global SDG Synthesis Coalition, an important initiative bringing together 40+ UN entities, various bilateral and multilateral organizations, and global evaluation bodies and networks. The Coalition aims to conduct and disseminate five evaluative syntheses about the SDG achievements under the SDG pillars - People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership – by 2025. By synthesizing evaluative evidence on SDG achievements around the five pillars, the SDG Evidence Coalition will generate key lessons based on credible evaluative evidence to accelerate progress toward the achievement of the SDGs. The preliminary lessons from the first synthesis - on the Partnership Pillar – were presented at an event during the UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York in July 2023. The final lessons were presented at the General Assembly SDG Summit in September 2023. The other syntheses of the four remaining pillars (People, Planet, Peace, and Prosperity) will feature in the 2024 HLPF, and be completed by the Summit of the Future in 2024.
