DLSU Social Development Research Center

The Social Development Research Center at De La Salle University, established in 1979, is dedicated to rigorous research and training standards in line with the university's commitment to advancing learning and knowledge application. The Center focuses on exploring social issues related to quality of life, social development, and national progress, aiming to address evolving societal needs. Its core objectives include conducting research on pertinent social issues, disseminating findings for advocacy and capacity building, and fostering collaborations with academic institutions in the ASEAN Region. Renowned for its independence, integrity, and credibility, the Center has garnered trust from national and international funding bodies and government agencies. These entities regularly engage the Center and its Research Fellows to undertake mission-driven social science research on key themes like poverty alleviation, social empowerment, youth welfare, gender dynamics, and service delivery enhancement. With a rich history of over 250 completed studies, the Center's contributions have translated into tangible policies and initiatives that cater to pressing societal needs. Notably, the Center's impactful research initiatives in poverty alleviation, social development, and empowerment have led to the establishment of schools, income-generating activities, community organization efforts, and improved service provisions in various sectors. By actively involving beneficiaries and enhancing service providers' capabilities through capacity-building initiatives, the Center has cultivated strong partnerships with donor agencies and bolstered confidence in individuals' potential to surmount barriers hindering growth and development. Through its comprehensive research endeavors and collaborative efforts, the Social Development Research Center continues to play a pivotal role in fostering positive social change and advancing the welfare of communities in the region.
