About SDS — Southern Development Strategy

In response to the crisis in Ukraine, the following are SDS's strategic areas of activity: 1. Emergency supplies 2. Infrastructure rehabilitation 3. Economic recovery and integration. 4. Housing, land and property rights 5. Inclusion SDS began its activities prior to the large-scale war in 2020 in Kherson city, located in southern Ukraine. The organisation's primary mission was to support the infrastructure and social development of rural communities located near the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea. Over the past five years, SDS has evolved from a small local initiative of like-minded individuals into a robust network comprising three offices in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv, as well as a vertically integrated system of specialised departments with over 120 experts. We have survived occupation, relocation, rebuilding our team and restarting our activities. Today, we are a national leader in: (1) reconstructing water and heat supply systems (2) restoring agricultural livelihoods (3) providing legal assistance with housing, land and property issues; and (4) offering emergency support with hygiene and winterisation. We actively integrate the following approaches into our programmes: - Engineering solutions at community and household levels - Cash and voucher assistance (CVA). - Safety audits to identify and mitigate risks - Involving community residents in project implementation - A "close the case" approach to identified needs.
