About SeaBioMat
The SeaBioMat project is investigating biosourced or biodegradable materials to replace unsustainable or polluting materials in the maritime sector. In the fishing, nautical equipment and port sectors, product ranges are currently polluting due to the release of microplastics when products or nets are worn or lost in the oceans. The aim of the SeaBioMat project is to demonstrate that biosourced and/or biodegradable polymers and fibers are suitable for these marine applications and have less impact on the marine environment and the environment in general than current fossil-based materials. To meet this challenge, SEABIOMAT calls on the complementary expertise of a number of partners - Centexbel - Scientific & Technical Center of the Belgian Textile Industry - Ifremer - French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea - IMT Nord Europe - Ecole Nationale Supérieure Mines-Télécom Lille Douai - EuraMaterials - Competitiveness cluster for materials processing industries - Aquimer - Competitiveness cluster for aquatic products - VLIZ - Vlaams Instituut voor de Zee - EV ILVO - Flanders Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food + 2 associate partners: PLASTIWIN and POLE GREENWIN Duration: 48 months SeaBioMat is a project funded under the Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen cross-border cooperation program.
