Founded in 2009 with an initial capital allocation of $250,000, the Redhawk Fund provides Seattle University students with hands-on investment management experience by overseeing a portion of the University’s endowment. Through disciplined research and portfolio management, the fund has grown to over $1.5 million as of the end of 2024.
The fund follows a long-only strategy, investing exclusively in U.S. large-cap equities, benchmarking against the S&P 500 Fossil Fuel Free Index and adhering to socially responsible investing principles. We are advised by the Finance Board of Advisors and an alumni advisory board, and we work closely with our faculty advisor.
Recruitment occurs twice a year through a comprehensive and competitive process. Selected candidates must complete an intensive five-week training program to demonstrate their commitment and develop essential investment skills. Beyond portfolio management, the Redhawk Fund organizes quarterly and other networking events to connect members and the broader Albers School community with industry professionals. We also participate in local and national finance competitions, including the CFA Research Challenge and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), with a strong track record of success.
We take pride in acting as fiduciaries for the Seattle University endowment, developing the next generation of finance professionals, and fostering strong relationships within our alumni network. The fund is dedicated to providing a rigorous learning experience, continuously raising the bar, and equipping portfolio managers and analysts with both technical and leadership skills.
