Seaweed is very healthy and the most sustainable source of protein. To produce consistent quality seaweed, with high food safety, Seaweedland developed an innovative on-land seaweed cultivation technology to grow premium seaweed under fully controlled conditions in our proprietary cultivation tanks. Our technology allows for the highest levels of control over quality, efficacy, traceability and product security, and is the most environmentally friendly method for the production of biomass from natural resources. Seaweed may well be the largest untapped resource on our planet and can play a major role in the fight against climate change. Seaweed absorbs carbon dioxide, generates oxygen and doesn't need fresh water. Seaweed is rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins and is a raw material for biofuels and biodegradable plastics. Growing world population and the demand for natural products increase the demand for proteins from sustainable sources. Animal proteins from meat and dairy products as well as soy-proteins lead to greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation. Seaweed is a sustainable and only needs sea water, light and CO2 to grow. Offshore seaweed cultivation experiences many challenges related to unfavorable weather conditions, seasonality, waves, storms, germs, molds and pollution, leading to unpredictable yield and quality. That's why we grow seaweed on land that is not suitable for agriculture.
