Second Chances was founded in 2011 as Second Chances Transitional Living for Women operating through 2016 by providing women involved with the judicial system with substance use and mental health challenges a place to regain their families and sobriety in a safe and loving environment. Our founder, Sandra Fedinic, dedicated her retirement years and savings to opening and running this home but fell seriously ill after 5 successful years in operation and was forced to place the nonprofit in dormant status. In early 2023 we were excited to file a petition for revival which was approved on February 9, 2023.
We are currently attempting to raise funds to get programs running and have appointed a new Board President, Lisa Jersey, to help lead us to new heights and to serve women in our community once again. Our focus remains on serving women in Northern Nevada but will expand to serve all transitional living homes in our area by offering training and support for those who serve some of our most vulnerable populations. We believe that by leveraging the strengths and generosity of local businesses, leaders and other non-profits we can work to establish meaningful change and lasting community support for underserved women and their families.
Second Chances is excited to be re-established in Reno, NV and is eager to bring our knowledge, experience and services back to our community again.
