NSF SECURE Analytics

NSF SECURE Analytics provides data collection, analysis and reporting that enhance the research community's capacity to make risk-informed decisions about research security. We serve institutions of higher education, other non-profit research performing organizations, and small and medium-sized businesses. Led by Texas A&M University, in partnership with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and Parallax Advanced Research, we identify and analyze patterns of foreign interference in research; share information on research security risks; and enhance the community's understanding of: Whom they are collaborating with; whom their collaborators are collaborating with; who is funding those collaborations; whether a foreign government nexus exists; the research security risks those collaborations entail; and how they can mitigate those risks. We deliver large qualitative and quantitative datasets on publications, patents, investments, government policies, and other relevant information; AI-driven tools that transform these datasets into actionable insights for the research community; stakeholder training on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation; and empirical reports and advisories on research security risks. NSF SECURE Analytics partners with the NSF SECURE Center (led by University of Washington) and five SECURE Regional Centers; the Research and Innovation Security & Competitiveness (RISC) Institute at Texas A&M; COGR (Argus beta testing program; the Academic Security & Counter Exploitation (ASCE) program; collaborative opportunities with research institutions; and other potential partnerships (domestic and international).
