About Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) at The Ohio State University

Students for the Exploration and Development of Space at The Ohio State University (SEDS OSU) is a student organization founded in November 2017. Our goal is to promote the learning and exploration of space through involving our diverse membership in space-related projects and activities. Our members engage with the aerospace community and have opportunities to develop leadership skills and team-working experiences. What is SEDS OSU working on now? - A CubeSat to be flown on a rocket made by The Ohio State University's rocket team, Buckeye Space Launch Initiative (BSLI), which will be taking flight profile data to inform BSLI about the rocket's trajectory and stability, and will as well inform future experiments about the environment inside the payload space, - A support structure for Professor George Pantalos of University of Louisville's glove box experiment which will be flown on a Virgin Orbit parabolic flight, - A Radio Telescope built from scratch, in collaboration with the Astronomical Society at OSU for student research proposes. SEDS OSU believes that in the ongoing space-exploration era, it is crucial to be shaping enthusiastic youth into professionals with capabilities to impact to future space development and human spaceflight missions.
