SEED FOR THE FUTURE

SEED FOR THE FUTURE started in early 2018 as an effort to provide educational services and social mobility for persons under the care of the Vietnamese Orphanage system. Mission Statement SEED FOR THE FUTURE seeks to educate and empower Vietnamese underprivileged children, with the hopes of facilitating social mobility through mutually beneficial student and volunteer experiences. Objectives/Goals of the Organization 1. Promote public awareness for the need of K-12 education, mentorship opportunities, and primary medical care for underprivileged children 2. Deploy programs in order to achieve social mobility for underprivileged children 3. Recruit and empower volunteer teachers to deploy English learning programmes 4. Provide a safe and enjoyable learning space 5. Provide resources to achieve express goals of the student whether its through staff, teacher, or students themselves 6. Network with larger K Why Volunteer There is a reported 170.000 (2004-2012) abandoned children in Vietnam. Saigon is home to 2,900 orphans, the highest number of all cities and provinces in Vietnam. K-12 education has proven to be inconsistently delivered to underprivileged children in Vietnam. English certification is generally quite high. For example, it costs ~$207USD to sign up for the IELTS certification. Additionally, it costs 2.500.000vnd/month at least for the IELTS English lessons. However, it is not enough to simply obtain these certifications and skills. We must also connect underprivileged children to greater opportunities, so that they may utilize these certifications and employ these skills. SFTF’s mentorship arm addresses this point by connecting entrepreneurs and leaders to our children. Lastly, underprivileged children are not routinely connected with healthcare. Underprivileged children cannot study or achieve their their dreams if they themselves are not healthy. SFTF’s medical arm addresses this point by connecting them to local primary care physicians.
